Fun with Gouache

Fun with Gouache

The Kiddo joined in my recent adventures with gouache painting, and together we watched Deanna Maree Studio’s “Get Started with Gouache” videos (it is a free class she offers). The class is wonderful! It is a full intro to materials, techniques, and the basics of color mixing. I definitely recommend it. In the class, your … Continue reading

St. Valentine’s Day Crafting

St. Valentine’s Day Crafting

The kiddo participated in a Valentine swap and made the cutest bunny themed valentines. He stitched hearts on this free printable bunny I found online, and then watercolor painted some watercolor paper with warm colors. Once it dried, he cut out hearts and then wrote “Some bunny thinks you’re special.” We love a good pun. … Continue reading

Painted Quotes

Painted Quotes

Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with quotations, song lyrics, and poetry. I have kept a “quotes journal” for as long as I can remember (and now have a Pinterest board of some of my favorites, too). This is a little watercolour project I started recently, highlighting some of my favorite quotes.

Recent work

Recent work

When he was on his butterfly kick earlier this week, he made about a dozen of these oil pastel and watercolor butterfly paintings: I joined him and made two little spring themed watercolors, just for fun. These were definitely inspired by our nature walks, … Continue reading

Watercolor Bird Mobile

Watercolor Bird Mobile

The Wee One and I had some mobile art fun this week! We are both bird fans (which you no doubt guessed long ago) and wanted to make something new. He loves to watercolor, and I wanted to do something different, so we ended up creating a mobile. Although this was a kid craft for … Continue reading

Spring is in the Air

Spring is in the Air

If you had seen the sunlight this morning out our windows, you would know that spring is coming! Sure, it is ridiculously cold out. Sure, we still leave the house in winter coats, scarves, and mittens. But really, the warm glow of the light this morning means one thing and one thing only: spring is … Continue reading

Winter Fun

Winter Fun

It is no secret the Wee One and I love snow and the winter. We also love crafting, which you probably guessed. And baking. So we made a cute snowman painting and some mini baked doughnuts. The snowman and large “snowballs” in the sky are drawn with oil pastels. Then the Wee One used watercolors … Continue reading
