The New Hexagon

The New Hexagon

One of my current English Paper Piecing projects is Katja Marek‘s The New Hexagon, which has 52 different blocks that, regardless of the interior shapes, all finish as a hexagon. Here’s my first round of blocks, using Heather Ross’s Briar Rose as the focal point.

Mini Quilts

Mini Quilts

I’m playing catch up sharing projects here on the blog, so these are a few of my favorite mini quilts I have made over the last year. This one I jokingly call a love story between skulls. “I want to live where you are” is the text. The Mary Poppins series of books is one … Continue reading

Hexies

Hexies

I started my current addiction to English Paper Piecing with hexies. I think of them as the gateway drug in the EPP world. (ha ha) I have done hexies (and hexie swaps) for almost every holiday, color, pattern, and several themes (cats, anyone?). The Kiddo was intrigued by this hexie phenomenon and asked if he … Continue reading

English Paper Piecing

English Paper Piecing

I’ve gotten hooked on English Paper Piecing this past year and a half. I love the return to hand sewing, working with tiny pieces, creating layouts, playing with shape and color, and getting to spotlight favorite elements with fussy cutting. Mail Bag Pouch

Mail Bag Pouch

Last Autumn I participated in a mail themed swap. Each person made five of the same thing, all related to the theme of playing postman or mail time. For my contribution, I made a Mail Pouch, the perfect place for the letters and parcels to be delivered to. The pouch is based off of an … Continue reading

Very Mini Quilt Swap

Very Mini Quilt Swap

Recently, I participated in a very mini quilt swap on Instagram. Like less than 5 inches mini! It was a lot of fun, although the size definitely made it challenging. I had an awesome partner who loves awesome fabric (and cats), so she was a ton of fun to sew for… although she is also … Continue reading

Mr. Raccoon Loves the Rain

Mr. Raccoon Loves the Rain

When I saw the pattern to make a little felt raccoon, complete with raincoat and galoshes, in Cynthia Treen Studio’s Etsy shop, I couldn’t resist. I ended up stitching him up for my son’s seventh birthday (how is he already seven?). The pattern was fairly easy to follow, since I have made many three-dimensional felt … Continue reading

Fabric Chess Board

Fabric Chess Board

Using birthday money my parents gave me, I ordered my first set of chess pieces. They are lovely and are weighted & sized for competition (not that I will ever be a good enough chess player to compete!). I did not order a board because I wanted to make my own out of some of … Continue reading

Handmade Gifts

Handmade Gifts

I made my sisters a couple of handmade gifts for this past Christmas. Keychain wrist lanyards: I thought this would be good for each of them for dog walking. My younger sister has two dogs and my older sister recently started her own dog walking & pet sitting business (check it out here!) (I designed … Continue reading
