Again this year for Advent we symbolically walked with Mary on her journey to Christmas. Each day she moved one spot closer to Christmas, we said a prayer to her, and then on each Sunday of Advent, we lighted all of the candles and the Kiddo read a special prayer to accompany the particular Sunday of Advent. The Advent spiral is probably my favorite tradition for Advent that is not one from my childhood.
The baby Jesus makes an appearance in her arms on Christmas morning, too.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, prayer for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
We put up our usual lighted garlands, too, along with the Nativity. I like to put a candle in where the baby Christ will go Christmas morning, as a symbol of the light that comes into the world with the arrival of Christmas. Since we have cats who get into everything, I used an LED tealight.
