I decided in mid-February to try something new and signed up to be an Usborne book rep. I have had a slow start because of various things, but I finally had my official kick-off party last weekend. It was a Book Brunch, with a massive amount of baked goods I made, a craft project, friends hanging out, and, of course, fantastic books. While my focus is on library and school sales (I did the extra certification to be an Educational Consultant), it was still lots of fun to do the party and I would be happy to do more! I am really interested in story times, where I’ll read a couple of fun books and then we’ll do a craft that ties in thematically to the books. When I used to teach elementary art, I love reading a book to the pre-k,k, and first graders, then doing a project (like gorgeous sunflower paintings after reading “What’s this? A seed’s story.”)
Anywho, here’s some pictures from my launch party! I baked chocolate chip scones, strawberry cake, strawberry cream cheese croissants, chocolate kissed coconut macaroons, and baked french toast. I also made a lemonade grapefruit punch and had a hot kettle of water and lots of tea to choose from.

Book themed buntings hung on the front door and wall. I also had bookmarks I made for everyone, plus temporary tattoos that say “Reading is awesome.”
(I made the “One Hour Basket” out of Anna Maria Horner fabrics and used them to display books.)
For the craft, I had out card making supplies: greeting card blanks, scrapbook paper, and reading related quotes. Even non-artsy people had fun making cards!
