Last Saturday, December 6, was St. Nicholas Day! We celebrated at home and at church. When G woke up in the morning, he found a couple treats in his slippers, plus we read a story and talked about St. Nicholas and why he is special. That morning, we also headed to church for St. Nicholas crafts and cookie baking! It was a lot of fun. Most of the ideas and resources came from the St. Nicholas Center, which I highly recommend for recipes, crafts & printable projects, and stories.
The next day at church, the Sunday School teacher made an appearance as St. Nicholas. Each child left one of their shoes in the hallway during Communion, then discovered “St. Nicholas” had left them treats! Everyone had a great time.
It was a really lovely weekend, filled with family time and fun!
Oh, and that wooden St. Nicholas in the very first photograph is one I made. I ended up filling 7 custom orders for those! Here are some of them:
They are made from poplar, wood burned, and watercoloured. I am working on other saints, too.
