Welcome to my contribution in the “It’s All About Me” blog hop! Thank you to Marlene and Madame Samm for organizing! Thanks, too, to Amy Bradley for sharing her pattern we got to work with.
Usually I am a pretty strict pattern follower (if I use a pattern, that is), but for this blog hop it was emphasized that we could totally give it our own spin– change the hair, the shirt, make it big, make it small, etc, so I went for it! I followed the basic body form with just a little tweaking, then changed up the head & hair so it looked more like me (it is all about me, after all!). I reduced the pattern to super tiny (a couple inches) and turned it into a mug rug.
This is the back.
Here’s a close-up.
I picked fabrics that reflect my likes (birds and polka dots), did fusible applique like Amy talks about in her pattern, added some hand embroidery for the face, incorporated felt letters (Tea! since it is for a mug rug), and then a little quilting after the whole thing was sewn together. It was fun to make, and I look forward to using it with my next mug of tea!
The pattern was easy to work with and was also easy to edit to make the person look more like me. You should definitely check out Amy Bradley’s patterns! I think this baby quilt one is so cute!
And this cute dog is a free pattern from her! (click the picture go to her site with the pattern and instructions)
Now for the giveaway!

Great mug rug. How do you reduce a pattern to that size?
Since it was a PDF, I just printed it out at a reduced percentage. You could also print it full size and reduce it on a photocopier. Hope that helps!
