This past fall I won a copy of the autumn issue of Crafting Connections in a blog giveaway. This is a wonderful quarterly magazine for kids and their grown-ups, full of hands-on activities, recipes, and nature activities. My son and I have loved every thing we have done from the magazine. This past weekend we tried our hand at one of the recipes in the autumn issue, mini apple pies (although I had some whole cranberry sauce on hand, so we made apple cranberry pies).
As always it was fun working in the kitchen with the Wee One, although this time he got to try something new: chopping apples. I admit, I was hesitant to let him and never would have even thought of it if the magazine hadn’t suggested it. (He used a butter knife to chop the apples.) But I am glad I trusted him with this piece and we did it together, which he really liked. Here’s some pictures of our baking and the yummy results (some of which are made with regular pie crust and others with phyllo dough):
They were a hit with everyone!
