Final post in my “Keep Calm & Marry On” bridal shower posts, this time the crafty stuff. For favors, fellow bridesmaid & co-host Holly bought lovely silk flowers in two shades of purple, plus gorgeous tea tins in two sizes. We stuck floral foam in the middle, then added in the flowers and voila! The ones with large tea tins were centerpieces and the small ones were favors. (Note for parents of toddlers: the tea tin lids you don’t need make super fun “toys” the wee ones can bang around and build with.)
I also bought small canning jars and made little sewing jars/pincushions for everyone. I used a brown and turquoise dotted fabric to coordinate with the color scheme and filled the jars with sewing staples: pins, needle, thread, buttons, and safety pins. These are super easy to make.
Step 1: Cut a circle out of the fabric, a little bigger than the lid insert.
Step 2: Using a glue gun, pull and glue 3 of the 4 “sides” of fabric to the under side of the lid.
Step 3: Stuff with stuffing/polyfil and glue down the remaining fabric. Cover the underside with a circle cut out of paper to hide the messiness.
Step 4: Push the lid into the ring, add goodies to jar and a few pins to top, and you are done!
(I also made my own fabric and table runners, and banners, and… but I already talked about that before!)
