For the boys! A Sewing Blog Hop

image.pngWelcome to Day 7 of the “For the boys” blog hop! Thank you to Mdm Samm and Amy for organizing and hosting.

There is one boy who rules my heart and that is my four year old little guy, so he is the boy I sewed for (like usual!). I bought this adorable “Out of this World” fabric that I knew was just right for this hop. For my boy, an outer space themed project is perfect for him, as he is fascinated with space.

out of this world I cut out the small pieces and turned them into a bunting and mini wall hanging. (Forgive the picture quality, I had to take these pictures inside in the evening.)

Each flag is backed with either an outer space themed flannel or a yellow and white striped flannel. I used a denim binding for the hanging part.bunting3

I am going to hang the “Solar System” sign on his wall, too, near the start of the bunting.bunting4

Here is the little wall hanging, which has the whole solar system on it. I did corner tabs on the back for hanging it, used the same yellow & white stripe flannel for the back, and quilted with blue thread on all of the circular orbit lines.

The big panel from the fabric line is a wall quilt I am doing for his bedroom wall, which just needs to be bound still. Unfortunately, my little guy was sick for about the last two weeks so I didn’t get it finished in time. Soon though!

My boy loves the projects! I hope you do, too.

Thanks for stopping by. Here are the other bloggers hopping today:

  1. WOW…your little guy is sure to love and learn with your parade of solar projects. Perfect projects ‘for the boys’. Great job, thanks for sharing in the blog hop. Happy stitching, Pauline

  2. I love the flags (bunting). I adore the denim bias. Did you expend the effort to make that? It’s a great color and does not take the eye about from the individual flags. Even though I can’s see his face, I know he is beaming with pride. There is neither some yellow print or hand stitching. It makes it pop. How wonderful that your son loves space. I hope your son is feeling better. It always adds parental concern when they are sick. I just had a call from my daughter who does not live near – at all. My two year old grandson fell over the ottoman last night and had to have stitches in his lip. I’m more concerned than Mom. She’s like I am – just takes stuff in stride. It’s more difficult for me being miles and miles and miles away. Thanks for more great projects and ideas. Hope to see you in more hops soon

  3. Fantastic quilts and bunting! Oh my son would have loved this when he was young. He was so into cosmology when he was little. He’s 27 years old now and still finds it interesting, but not as much as when he was a child.

  4. Great job on all those planet projects! I love the bunting especially! Hope your little guy is feeling much better now.
